Overnight cruises board at 12:00 noon at Punnamada Finishing Point and disembark by 09:00 the next morning. Day cruises run 11:00 to 17:00. ### Does the boat move at night? No. Kerala regulations require houseboats to anchor by 17:30. We moor at a quiet spot on Vembanad Lake or a canal bank, away from the main jetties. ### Is the food vegetarian or non-vegetarian? Both. Our chef prepares a Kerala sadya with karimeen, prawns or chicken, and a full vegetarian menu on request. Tell us about allergies when you book. ### Is the boat safe for children and elderly guests? Yes. Railings run the full length of both decks, life jackets are on board for every guest, and the crew is trained in first aid. Suites are on the lower deck for easy access. ### How do I reach Punnamada jetty? It is 3 km from Alappuzha railway station and 85 km from Cochin International Airport. We can arrange a car from Kochi at an additional cost. ### What is the best season? October to March is dry and pleasant. June to September is the monsoon, which is lush, quiet and cheaper. April and May are hot but good for off-season rates. ### What is your cancellation policy? Free cancellation up to 7 days before boarding. 50% refund between 7 and 3 days. No refund within 72 hours, but we will try to re-schedule your date once free of charge. ### Which route should I choose? For a first visit the Alleppey to Kumarakom overnight gives you canals, the open lake and a mid-lake sunset. Day guests take the Punnamada round cruise. Two-night guests go south to Alumkadavu. ### What should I pack? Light cotton clothes, sunscreen, a hat, insect repellent for the evening deck and a light shawl for the AC suite. Swimwear if you want to bathe at the village stop in the dry season. ### Is it a private houseboat or shared? Private. Only your party is on board. For couples we recommend the one-suite rate; groups of up to ten can charter the whole boat. ### Do you operate in the monsoon? Yes, except on days when the port officer suspends sailing for heavy weather. The monsoon backwaters are at their greenest and rates are lowest. ### Is there Wi-Fi and power on board? 4G coverage is good along most of the route and we have a hotspot on board. Suites have sockets and the generator runs until 23:00 and again from 06:00. ### Can you arrange a cab from Kochi? Yes. A sedan from Cochin airport or Ernakulam station to Punnamada is about two hours and can be added to your booking. ### Alleppey or Kumarakom, which is better? Alleppey has more canals and village life; Kumarakom has the open lake and bird sanctuary.
